What it is

What is JustRestart?

JustRestart has been the digital platform for collective debt settlement cases since 2 November 2023. This central register contains all data and documents of a collective debt settlement procedure. It has two parts: a public part, where creditors, debtors and third parties file a petition or a claim and consult the file, and a private part, where magistrates, registrars and debt mediators manage the file.

Belgian legal entities and professional third parties are required to use the register. Foreign legal entities and natural persons are not obliged to, but are strongly advised to do so.

Public and private: who works where

JustRestart Public

justrestart.just.fgov.be

Where creditors, debtors and third parties file a petition or a claim and consult the file. As a citizen or creditor you use the register, in some cases mandatorily, to:

  • file a petition for collective debt settlement;
  • consult the orders, judgments and rulings of the labour courts and labour courts of appeal;
  • accept the invitation to take note of the file;
  • file a claim;
  • consult the draft amicable settlement plan (MAR) and state your position on it as a creditor;
  • file additional petitions;
  • communicate with the registry and the debt mediator.

JustRestart Private

Frequently asked questions

Short answers to the questions we are asked most about JustRestart.

Who is obliged to use JustRestart?

Belgian legal entities and professional third parties must use the register. Foreign legal entities and natural persons are not obliged to, but are strongly advised to.

What is the difference between JustRestart Public and Private?

The public part is for creditors, debtors and third parties to file, consult and communicate. The private part is where magistrates, registrars and debt mediators manage the file.

How do I sign in JustRestart as a lawyer?

With the electronic lawyer signature via itsme®, after a one-time activation at handtekening.dp-a.be. Other users sign with eID or itsme®.

Where do I find the privacy policy?
Am I obliged to accept an invitation from the registrar as an invited creditor?

No. You can accept the invitation, transfer it or reject it.

If I wish to transfer the management of a file to my lawyer, how do I do so on the platform?

There are two ways to hand off a file: “Transfer” (the other account fully replaces you as creditor – you lose access), or “Pass file onto authorised party” (e.g. your lawyer joins with equal access, and you keep yours too). There is currently no self-service way to withdraw access once granted – contact the registrar if that’s needed.
