What it is

What is the lawyer signature?

The electronic lawyer signature is a personalised electronic signature developed specifically for lawyers by DPA together with Dioss Smart Solutions. It uses itsme®.

The electronic lawyer signature relies on the qualified signature certificate of itsme® and adds your capacity as a lawyer to every signature. Because it works through itsme®, your national register number is not stored in the signature, which makes it a fully professional signature.

To safeguard the reliability of the signature, only active lawyers whose national register number is known in their lawyer profile can activate it. During this one-time activation, your national register number is checked and a link is made between itsme® and your capacity as a lawyer. After that, you place electronic signatures with itsme® without your national register number being involved.

Your capacity as a lawyer is only added for active lawyers. If you are no longer active, the electronic lawyer signature is deactivated and it is no longer possible to sign in your capacity as a lawyer. You can activate or deactivate your electronic lawyer signature yourself at any time via handtekening.dp-a.be.

Activate or deactivate the signature yourself at any time. If you are no longer active as a lawyer, it is deactivated automatically.

Up and running in three steps

Check your profile
Make sure your national register number is registered in your lawyer profile with your bar.
Activate your signature
Go to handtekening.dp-a.be and activate the electronic lawyer signature once with itsme®.
Sign as a lawyer
Sign documents with itsme® in the DPA applications that support the lawyer signature, such as RegSol and JustRestart.
