If you do not want to use a smartphone, or if you have questions about using itsme® for the electronic lawyer signature, let us briefly explain why DPA made this choice and which alternatives you have.
The electronic lawyer signature was developed in close consultation with the Bars, to offer a secure, legally compliant and future-proof solution. We chose itsme® for these reasons:
- itsme® is a recognised and highly secure solution, with a strong reputation for digital identification and signing. Banks and government also use it widely.
- The classic lawyer card is being phased out for this use. The eID only lets you sign with your national register number.
- Building our own solution would be expensive, complex and less widely supported.
We understand that you may have personal preferences or concerns. That is why there is always another way to sign a document: download the document, sign it by hand, and upload it again to the platform. This method is less convenient, but it stays available.
We hope you understand our choice, which is based on security, legal validity and broad use across the whole profession. Do you have questions or do you need help? We are happy to help you.
