itsme® is a recognised and highly secure solution for digital identification and electronic signatures. It is widely used in sectors such as banking, government and healthcare, and by many lawyers.
An electronic lawyer signature was developed specifically for the legal profession. It uses the itsme® app on your smartphone, and automatically adds your capacity as a lawyer and your unique lawyer number when you sign.
With a regular eID or itsme® you are identified as a citizen by default. Only this adapted lawyer signature shows your capacity correctly on the document.
The classic lawyer card is being phased out for this purpose. You can still use your eID, but then only your national register number is sent, not your role as a lawyer.
