As a lawyer, you can give a mandate to a staff member who is not a lawyer (for example an assistant). With that mandate, your staff member works on your behalf in a DPA application, with their own login.

What do you need?

To give a mandate as a lawyer:

  • your own login to the DPA platform, through CSAM with eID or itsme®;
  • the staff member’s eID card, with its PIN code and a card reader; or
  • the staff member’s mobile number, if you want to use their itsme® authentication.

To log in as a mandate holder:

  • your eID card, your PIN code and a card reader (the eaZyID program must then be installed on your computer); or
  • your mobile phone for itsme® authentication;
  • a computer with an internet connection.

For which applications can I give a mandate?

Want to give a staff member access to several applications? Then create one mandate per application.

Giving a mandate

Log in to the DPA platform at secure.dp-a.be/profile and click ‘My mandates’ in the menu on the left. You can also log in through the grey application tiles on the website of your bar association.

  1. You see an overview of your mandate holders. Working for several firms? You can mandate staff at each of them: check the firm you are logged in for. Select the firm you are giving the mandate for and click ‘Add new mandate’.
  2. Choose the type of mandate (the application) and click ‘Next’.
  3. Identify your staff member through CSAM. Click ‘Retrieve personal data’; you are redirected to CSAM.
    • With the eID card reader: insert your staff member’s eID card, click ‘Log in with eID card reader’ and let your staff member enter the PIN code.
    • With itsme®: click ‘Log in with itsme’ and enter your staff member’s mobile number. Your staff member confirms on their smartphone; their data is then loaded automatically.
    Once your staff member is identified, you return to the DPA platform with the first three fields filled in. Add the mandate holder’s e-mail address (twice) and click ‘Next’. Your staff member receives a confirmation e-mail.
  4. Explicitly confirm your consent for this mandate holder with ‘Confirm’.
  5. Your new mandate holder appears in the overview of your organisation. Use the download icon to download the DPA mandate; the icon only appears once the document has fully loaded.

Revoking a mandate
